OW2con’26 has just wrapped up, and PrestaShop was proud to take part in two packed days (June 2–3) at Orange Innovation Gardens in Paris–Châtillon. As OW2’s annual European open source conference, OW2con delivered what it does best: practical discussions, a welcoming community, and high-quality conversations.

PrestaShop attended as Gold Sponsor, with a demo pod / booth presence throughout the event. I staffed the booth for both days with Iliès Bahloul, Product Manager at PrestaShop, and also took time to mingle across sessions and networking moments, making OW2con a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new people across the European open source ecosystem.

Booth conversations: PrestaShop, open source, and community contribution

Over the two days, the booth was a steady meeting point for three recurring topics:

  • PrestaShop’s open source model: how the project is organized, how collaboration works, and what it means, concretely, for an open source ecommerce platform.
  • Quick introductions to PrestaShop: OW2con draws a very eclectic crowd, so we often started with a short overview of what PrestaShop is, what it does, and who it’s for, especially for attendees discovering the project for the first time.
  • Paule Morizot (Head of Product)’s speaking session and community contribution: we also used the booth as a relay to talk about Paule’s session (more details below), and to highlight concrete ways the community can contribute to the project.

These conversations are exactly why OW2con matters for the project: it’s a human-scale event where community dynamics, governance, and implementation realities are openly discussed and where ideas often turn into follow-ups after the conference.

Paule Morizot’s talk: “PrestaShop and calls for contributions: a structured collaboration”

A highlight of day one was Paule Morizot’s session on the Main Stage: “PrestaShop and calls for contributions: a structured collaboration”.

The talk shared our approach to “calls for contributions” as a way to make collaboration more predictable and useful for everyone involved, by grounding contribution topics in the roadmap, clarifying selection criteria, supporting contributors, and continuously improving both velocity and quality.

It was also a strong moment of visibility for the work done with and by the community: showing that open source contribution is not just about code coming in, but about building a repeatable model for collaboration.

A community award moment

Right after the session, OW2con held its award ceremony, and PrestaShop received an OW2 Best Projects Award in the community category! This is a meaningful recognition in a conference that brings together so many open source organizations and contributors. It was a great moment to highlight the collective effort behind the project: contributors, agencies, partners, and everyone who helps make the ecosystem stronger year after year.

Closing thoughts

OW2con’26 reinforced something we strongly believe: open source is strongest when it’s shared, through conversations, structured collaboration, and consistent community momentum.

A big thank you to OW2 for hosting, to everyone who stopped by the booth, attended the session, asked questions, and shared feedback.
